Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game break points in a close third set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
